Introduction

Welcome to the 21st Annual Festival of Jewish Cinema!

The start of any new Festival is a cause for celebration. This year’s event, however, also marks another significant milestone in the Festival’s history, and we hope that you’ll be able to join us for this special celebratory edition.

In keeping with the Festival’s mantle as one of the world’s best celebrations of Jewish cinema, and as Australia’s “best and brightest” multi-cultural and national cinemas festival, the Festival’s founder and director, Les Rabinowicz, and Festival Programmer Diane Perelsztejn have gathered an eclectic line-up of 25 new feature films and documentaries from around the globe.

With nearly all of the films coming directly from the Berlin, Cannes, Toronto and Venice Film Festivals, there is much in the programme to stimulate the most discerning viewers.

We hope that you all make the most of the occasion as this year’s programme is a stellar selection with many highlights to choose from.

We are particularly pleased that children and teenagers will again be able to attend the entire Festival programme in accordance with new film classification guidelines approved for our event by the Classification Board.

(Please see the Ticketing information for the full details.) This is a terrific opportunity for younger members of our community to experience first-hand the large and rich world that is Jewish cinema.
